Presidents Place will include an approximately 10,819 square foot community center, presently titled by Audubon as the “Community Nonprofit Resource Center”. The Center will provide a wide range of senior, low-income and community support services to sixty resident households of Presidents Place as well as the greater Owensboro community. Audubon will manage the Center and its related operations and services. The Center will also provide front office space for Homeland’s housing-management staff person who will also assist the coordination of residents’ and community groups’ scheduling and use of the Center. Presidents Place will have 30 one bedroom units which will be 741 square feet and 30 two bedroom units which will be 948 square feet. The senior area will have a lounge area with a couch, coffee tables, end tables, chairs, TV, internet connections. The recreation exercise room will have a bike station, weights, tread mill, water fountain.
One wing of the Center will house cubical-type office space for a dozen or more simultaneous non-profit organizations’ and ad hoc community groups’ work and meeting spaces, plus common-use copy, phone and information systems support and file space. In addition, the opposite wing of the Center will include a full-scale, fully equipped commercial kitchen plus serving space and furnishing to provide meal service for up to 140 persons.
Presidents Place will be opened in the Spring of 2011.
